Witton Dene

Witton Dene is a steeply wooded valley to the South of the village.  It follows the course of the Dene Burn which is a small tributary of the River Browney.  The dene is a valuable local leisure, social and educational amenity for the village.  It is managed as a local nature reserve by a volunteer group, the Friends of Witton Dene, who in association with the Breathing Space project and the Countryside Ranger Service, help to maintain the natural environment and access.    Work in the dene relies on volunteers to  sustain the area as an important village resource and anyone interested in helping can get further details from <denis.daggett@gmail.com>
