Cooper Hall open day and Breathing Space bring and buy – both 3 October

Action-packed day for Witton Gilbert community activities, wellness, children’s and exercise tomorrow, Saturday 3 October.

Coffee morning and bring and buy sale for Breathing Space Charity (10am-12noon).

St Michael & All Angels church is organising a coffee morning and bring and buy sale to raise money for our wonderful charity Breathing Space Durham.

Please bring items from 8:30am – either good as new or new unwanted – that we can sell to support the community wellbeing activities and mental health support run by Breathing Space in the church and in the village and nearby.

Cooper Hall open day (2-4pm)

Witton Gilbert Village Hall Association – Cooper Hall is getting together the various groups to showcase all the activities so you can ask questions, find out what is going on and how to join in. The association’s committee members will be there for you to meet and you can bring your suggestions.

The open day will showcase many activities including :

  • Exercise: A wide range of fitness and exercise classes from Zumba, to Yoga, walking group, chair exercise classes and more.
  • Children: Dance class, toddler football, theatre group and a playgroup . “These groups have been running within the hall for several years, all with amazing teachers, leaders and staff.”
  • Wellness: Beth and Nicky from Daisy Bloom Women & Wellness will have tasty little treats, our Stop Starting Over book offer, Nutracheck and Yuka demonstrations and absolutely no diet-culture nonsense! They offer “friendly Tuesday morning sessions, one-to-one coaching, workplace training or finding out more about a wellbeing speaking event, pop over for a chat. No pressure and definitely no hard sell.”

Early bird tickets 2 May for Wittfest 2026

The amazing music festival on your doorstep – Wittfest 2026 – will be on Saturday 4 July this year. Its a beautifully organized festival in the huge carpark of the Travellers Rest pub, Witton Gilbert, with a great line-up of bands, a fantastic high stage and great sound.

Tickets are £20 – funds go to the excellent village association Children’s Hopes and Dreams (CHAD) which supports a host of great activities and organizations, and the pub.

You can get early bird tickets for this local Durham music festival at £15 each on 2 May from 2pm till 5pm at the Travellers Rest (Front St, DH7 6TQ)

The organizers will be organizing a similar festival at the Kings Head in Lanchester on Saturday 1 August. Early bird tickets are also available for this, also at £15, at the same time and place.

The Wittfest is highly recommended, featuring a great set up, lots of seating, room to dance, plus several bars.
